Quite lovely!

I have to say it is interesting that these look like a larger lighter colored Phrag Calurum.

Default Calurum vs QF NK

They both are at least half longifolium. Calurum is also half sedenii, and when these QF NK flowers come out, they are quite similarly colored to my sedenii. Then, within a couple days, they fade to the light lavender/pinkish color.

According to Orchid Web, Inca Treasure (the other half of QF NK) is longifolium x kovachii 'Goliath'. So, QF NK is 3/4 longifolium. So yes, calurum and QF NK are close cousins!

Speaking of orchidweb, a longifolium species plant available from them, v. viride, will set you back a mere $800 !!

Default QF orchids

Hi all. Silly question but what does QF stand for? Is it Quintal Farms in Hawaii? Does this mean that they created this cross? (Judging by the Hawiian name, it's not implausible).

I have another plant labelled QF, it says QF Phrag Dallesandroi 'Black as Night' x Longifolium. I'm thinking the "QF" on the label means this is a Quintal Farms cross.

However, I don't understand why this isn't Nicholle Tower, or at least a variation on it. NT is Dallesandroi x Longifolium.

Anyone who can advise me on understanding what is probably an incredibly elementary question, much appreciated!! Thx.

Dallesandroi x Longifolium is Nicolle Tower. I have the exact QF tag. (My investigation also led to Quintal Farms) The two parents made Nicolle Tower. The name is just not on the tag. I would not even guess at the conventions, and rituals that go into orchid naming. It is outside my sphere of understanding. I leave such things to the naming nerds out there. So I cannot advise you as to "understanding" what is going on other than to say that Dallesandroi x Longifolium were paired together and at some point, they were named Nicolle Tower, who ever that is. Pardon my ignorance.
