I noticed the picture of the flower in the pot and I have a NoID that looks similar and does the exact same thing! It takes forever to bloom but it is so worth it. Next year, I am sure you will notice that the bud has been set for months before it even begins to emerge. Beautiful plant.
Well, I'm new to phaps so I really don't know how much time it will take to full bloom. I recall someone have said it takes a while.
I'm not worried, blooms are growing in size and growing taller, with good colors as you can see by the photos...so, no worries.
But I will know I have succeed when this plant has gone through the complete life cycle, i.e., when it gets a complete new growth.
You're right, Phraggy. This is a Paphiopedilum Leeanum, which is a natual hybrid between Paphiopedilum spicerianum × Paphiopedilum insigne found in Bhutan and north India.
In yellow it's insigne's natural distribution. In blue, the spicerianums.
Leeanum, a natural hybrid, was found in the interface between both species (Bhutan and north of India).
