Why the 'aka peruviana'?

I know that local botanists tried to name it peruviana, but the kovachii name was published first. So, despite the illegality of plant used, under taxonomy rules that is the valid name.

agree. still the name "kovachii"is wrong in my opinion, but you know how egocentric people can be (kovach been one),

also a rule is not always fair, or right. but yes i agree rules are rules.

in peru it is called by some as PERUVIANUM OR PERUVIANA , regardless of what taxonomist rules says. they dont really care about those rules. they are very proud of their peruviana/peruvianum hence the AKA used here, to respect those who use the name and might be reading)

about kovach, i heard that things did not ran well for him afterwards, i heard he died, but before that lost his collection of plants, got 1 year of community service and to top it 1000 USD fine. all this for a plant?

yes he got immortalized for finding the plant IN A LOCAL MARKET, also for "honestly" stealing it without permits, hA! but i think the cost of having his name immortalized was far greater than having a plant carrying his name.

*honestly word used because he paid for it in local market, (he did not found it ) before running away , illegally with his precious cargo.
