Phrag Sorcerer's Apprentice
So it turns out my SA I got on ebay isn't actually one... it's more likely a Phrag. Patti MacHale. I still love the plant, because I like small form-factor phrags. However, I still wanted a real Sorcerer's Apprentice.
The divisions that come from Glen Decker (Piping Rock) all seem to be very, very large plants, and that's not what I'm looking for, even as beautiful as they are.
So, I found this gem (an Orchid Zone plant), and I'm picking it up this morning. Not sure how much it will grow, but it's in line with what I want... both size of the plant AND THE FLOWER haha.
Overall this is a lesson for me about where I'm getting plants (i.e. ebay from non-established growers) and spending more time to get the 'right' plant (for me) instead of just one when I see it.
This is
Phrag. Sorcerer's Apprentice (lindleyanum var. sargentianum 'Rojo' x longifolium 'Red Ropes')

I love the colors on that bloom. I got one from Piping Rock and, you're right, it's a huge plant. I'd rather have something smaller because my space is limited. Your's looks like a really nice phrag..

Very pretty! You can count on anything you get from Orchid Zone being great. I really like their plants, and will gladly pay more for better quality.
I only kept one of my giant Phrags. Belle Hougue Point (Eric Young x caudatum). It's similar to SA but the petals are longer.

A had a few Belle and got rid of them. I realized I didn't like light salmon colored Phrags and the plants were way too large for me, for something I wasn't in love with. Once they bloomed I traded away and sold on ebay. But I'm glad you like yours!
OZ has a great reputation and the plants I have from there are top notch. They have become much more accessible to me recently. Unfortunately it's for sale once again, so it's concerning to some degree. Anyone have a few million to spend on orchids?

Phrag Taras
(pearcei 'Cricket' x boissierianum 'Green Dragon')
Phrag Conchiferum 'Everblooming'
(caricinum x longifolium)
I didn't get very good pictures today, but here they are, just for perspective. The Conchiferum has 14 growths and three spikes (with a 4th coming I think) so it might just live up to its name!
and the paph liemianum was to balance out the 4th corner of the tray ;-P

I'm SUPER happy with all of them... when I got them home I realized I'm going to have to make a lot of room, but it's worth it. They are all amazing plants and I felt really good about what I got, sort of the opposite of buyer's remorse.
