I was wondering the same thing Steve. The shape of the petals doesn't look right for MDC. It looks more like Eric Young to me.

It's very pretty whatever it is.

I was wondering too. The label says: Phragm. sargentinum x bessae. It is heirloom from a good friend who had to say farewell forever much too early.
I don't know where he got it from and if the label is correct, which form of bessae was used for breeding.
Anyway, every comment is much appreciated.

Really pretty!

I'm interested to know what Steve and Terri see in the petals which is not quite right for MDC. Not questioning the judgement, just wanting to learn. I have an MDC and looking at my pictures of it I can' spot the difference but I'm probably just not looking at the right thing

Actually, what I can see is a difference on the inner edge of the pouch, mine is less yellow inside. Don't know if that's significant or not though.

It doesn't look like one to me either. Mine is currently in low spike but it will look like this when it blooms again:

As you can see from the pouch, MDC are spotty inside the pouch.

Yeah, that red spotty is the difference I'm seeing between this and mine, mine has more of a yellow rim on the pouch than yours Susie, but it's them red spotted inside the pouch like yours.

The shape and coloration is also what got me wondering. Whatever the cross, the colors on this flower are really nice and the shape is great!
