That would be a lot harder water than my tap water so filters may last less long, increasing the cost. However, that tap water with any fertilizer is not likely to be good with Phrags.

I don't really know about my water. I don't get alot of mineral buildup on pots no chlorine smell, it's delicious, and hasn't killed a plant yet.

The filter I want the is portable is the one from first rays? I would not be allowed to instal an under the counter kind. It also comes with a water tester so I will finally be able to know about my water in detail. Also the replacement parts are not expensive. And I only have two Phrags at the moment so it won't get very heavy use. I watered with my water because when they came the plants were dry the next watering a will be from the R/O water from the store until I order the system.

The plants are beautiful! The plants are small no taller than a foot. They are both two growth plants. The Jason Fischer bud is opening as we speak. It's small about the size of a quarter is that about average? Or will they get bigger as the plant ages? The bud is such a deep red! I'm excited! I can't wait for the Don Wimbers blooming season!

Use the distilled water mixed with a little tap water. You don't usually see the best blooms on Phrags until the second or third blooming.

Ok thanks I was a little worried. So Phrags are like phals in that way. The first blooming on a phal can be promising but no where near as nice as it will be later on. The flower is gorgeous by the way very red a little yellow but I'm sure the red will deepen with successive flowering. I'm actually not upset about the size it's adorable.

They are heavy drinkers! I have them sitting in a shallow bowl of not fertilizer water. I had already thoroughly watered them and then I set them in the dishes, two days later the bowl is dry! The pot is clear so I can se that the medium is still wet so I won't water just yet. Is that normal? I don't think it's a low humidity issue at all here are my current conditions Purchasing my First Phragmipedium! Advice please?-imageuploadedbytapatalk1351430195-072241-jpg

These are good right?

Water when the medium is still slightly moist on top. Don't let them become completely dry.
