Good photos, I, unfortunately, live in a place to hot to grow them. I think. But you may want to make sure it isn't Cypripedium Ulla Silkens, notice the lack of yellow on the staminode.

Hmm, I see what you mean, and the place I got it does also sell Cyp. Ulla Silkens. I guess I didn't pay any attention as the pouch on mine has the 'blushing' pink colour rather than the heavy spotting of Ulla Silkens..........

If you google "Cypripedium Ulla Silkens," there are quite a few with solid-color pouches.

Gorgeous,

Looks very like mine but I've not checked the stamanoid colour.

Mine has ONLY just opened, the flower is also rather small compared to last year and has already been eaten by slugs Don't know why it's so late but all my cyps outside over the winter have been late this year. One has not re-appeared at all and I wonder if it's died over the winter

I'm going to have a look at the staminode on mine when I get home. Who did you buy it from Jenny, I got mine from Laneside Hardy Orchids.

Hey Rosie I got it from Edrom in Scotland (Rare or Unusual Plants - Edrom Nurseries). I'll wait to hear about yours and then I may contact them about it as I got something from them a couple of years back which had been mislabelled (but that was an easy one to pick - I was expecting white and I got pink!)

Sorry to hear you've been slugged, but again, maybe we've been warmer than you down here in the south and that may have speed up things.

Flexdc, no secret really (unless you count asking Rosie for advice when I bought it ) Since I've had them, they've just sat in their pots in a dapple-shaded area and had water put on them in between the rainy spells!

Actually, one thing to share is what looks like seed pod. You can see in the first picture how it compares with the other stem. Assuming I'm right, any thoughts what I should do with it? I've never one on an orchid before!

It does look like a seed pod, but unfortunately I think these produce the pod even if there is no viable fertilised seed. I don't think we have the right pollinators in this country, mine did the same last year but it was empty.

Ah, that makes sense, I honestly couldn't think *how* it would've been pollinated with only one other flower in the area!

Checked mine last night and mine has much less on spotting on the stamanoide (a little but much less than yours) and does have yellow around it as well.

Here's mine last year, if you zoom on the picture you can see the yellow on the stamanoide. There is also hardly any spotting on the rim of the pouch, which is pink like the rest of the pouch where yours is white with red spotting inside rim.

I wouldn't have noticed all of this without GhostHunt suggesting yours might be something different
