Funny you should say that Tracy. When I was thinking about gettting a large long petaled Phrag. it was between this one and China Dragon. They have exactly the same species in their parentage just different percentages. I picked this one because it was 50% caudatum and I was hoping that would give it longer petals. China Dragon is 50% bessea so it has that great color. I might still have to get a China Dragon.

Bill some are some aren't. I think the short lived flowers you see mostly on the sequential bloomers. Multi florals like this one seem to hang on to their flowers a bit longer.

Oooo thats a gorgeous phrag
I had the china dragon, hated growing it, I really did, lol.
Its did nothing for years, no blooms very little roots growth and finally kicked the bucket!
If you do decide to get one, I hope you have much better luck then I did. Most people say the c. dragon is very slow to go

Gorgeous flowers. I have a Phrag. Belle Hougue Point that has a flower bud. It is the first time it has bloomed for me, so I am excited.

Don't have a Belle Hogue, but I really want one. I have a China Dragon and I can say, "Yes they grow slow!" Can be a bit temperamental!!! I'm still nursing it back from almost loosing it while I was pregnant the last time... that was 6 YEARS AGO ALMOST 7!!! But it will be worth it. gb

Awesome Terri! How are you growing this one?

Cheers.

Hi Jim. All my plants are grown under T5HO bulbs. They also receive a lot of natural light from the southwest facing window they sit in. I keep all the Phrags on the bottom shelf to keep them a bit cooler. I'm growing this one in a saucer of water just like you would bessea. They get MSU about every third watering. I'm hoping that since our night time temps are dropping I'll start seeing more spikes. Sedenii has already pushed up one. Belle Hougue has a mature growth that hasn't flowered yet so I'm hopeful I'll see another one soon. HTH
