Beautiful, it doesn't look like you have to stake it up. It must have a strong spike.

Luckily the spike is strong enough at the moment. I had to just help it out at the base but other than that it seems to be holding up just fine.

That's a beautiful looking plant, looks really well grown. I wish I had more room, some of these phrags are calling my name. I especially like the ones with detail on the inside of the pouch.

One thing I find interesting about my phrag is that no matter how many problems that I had with scale, the phrag didn't get them. I finally threw my spath out because no matter what I did it was covered in them.

Apparently they are resistant to quite a few ailments and they are quite forgiving too. I have had one suffer from some brown rot just recently but luckily I caught it in time. I shall wait and see how I get on with the others as I have only had them for about seven months or so. What phrags do you have?

I only have one phrag that I bought as a seedling about 7 years ago. It was labeled ? because the grower couldn't remember which 2 he crossed. It looks like this is the year it will finally bloom! I would love to get one of the red phrags. The orchid show is next month, so who knows.

Many are crossed with besseae so there is a good chance that you'll get a red -ish one. Fingers crossed.

That would be nice. I imagine that a hybrid may be hardier than pure besseae? I understand that they prefer cooler temperatures than most phrag.

They like to be cool and wet. I have a yellow besseae and I kept her slightly drier than recommended but she did very well -she branched!!! , but I keep my mdc more moist.
