This is a first bloom from a wimpy division I bought back in 2009. The plant finally took off about a year ago. The color is not as saturated as I had hoped, but I sure like the shape.

It's very nice for a first bloom and the color will probably be better next time. I really like this one.

That's just part of the fun of orchid culture, waiting for the first bloom of a new plant. They don't always turn out the way we had hoped but we love them anyway.
Even though the color is not as saturated as you had hoped it is beautiful and the shape is excellent! Good job!

Keep up the good work,
Paphluvr

Thanks everyone!

Phragguy, that's good to know about the color. It did deepen up a little as the flower aged but still not as dark as I had hoped. It's working on it's second flower now with a third on the way. Overall I'm very pleased with it.

Thought I would post an updated photo of this plants flower. It began blooming in the summer when temps were pretty warm. Subsequent blooms as we moved into fall and temps got cooler developed deeper color. This is the last flower on this spike. Photo was taken yesterday. I'm loving it. Good thing too because it's second fan is sending up a new spike. I'll be enjoying this one for quite some time.
