Default Cypripedium parviflorum in Newfoundland

Here is a clump of parviflorums growing at our botanical garden. I rescued them 10 years ago from an area in western Newfoundland when a new road was being constructed. They have increased quite dramatically over the years.

and here is a close-up of a flower.

Great Job! I have a real soft spot for wild orchids. My Last hike I came across a broken branch with about 5 orchids on it and leaned it up against a tree. We are not allowed to remove any flora.

Our parviflorums grow primarily in full sun while acaule prefer part shade (although I've seen them in full sun as well). Our sun is never hot like elsewhere in North America so I guess they don't mind the full sun as a result.

Wow!!! Very nice work! Are you responsible for the care of this orchid at the gardens?

Not much care is needed. They were planted in a limestone alpine mix 10 years ago and left to their own devices. I don't recall ever having a seed pod?????

The plant originally had only 3 flowers and 5 growths, so it is obviously happy!

Wow, beautiful clump. Hope mine little one looks this good eventually. I think it would like some lime, our soil in that area is quite acidic, do you know if they will handle those conditions over time? Thanks.

They can grow in a variegty of soil pH based on websources, but lime wouldn't be a bad idea
