So yesterday I was (sort of) passing an orchid nursery which I had visited back in March... it was only a
bit out of the way and the excuse was that I wanted to see if they had any 'Spanish Moss' for sale. They did... but I also came out with my first Phrag and a second Restrepia
This is Phrag. Paul Eugene Conroy and is a primary hybrid of
wallisii and
longifolium I think it takes a lot of it's looks from the wallisii but with a shortening of the flag and petals compared to that.
It has two flowers and a new bud so obviously sequential. The first four pics were taken with the flowers how they were when I bought it. The final picture is after I had carefully (oh so very carefully and terrified I would cause a flower to drop) staked it differently with a cross stake to hold up the oldest flower.
I really love this one, though it was actually not my first choice I was looking at a short petalled red slippered hybrid, but I let hubby choose because he was being so wonderful letting me buy more orchids (actually it was his credit card as well)
. I liked both and I knew he favoured this one because of the long petals... I did try and persuade him that
I would buy the red one and let
him have this one... but for some reason he didn't go for that idea
