Default Paph Magic Lantern

I bought this lovely plant from Piping Rock Orchids just starting to spike and it has fulfilled my hopes for it. I played around with cropping the photos- not sure I like the "floating in thin air" look.

Wow- you're quick- I was just resizing it. What do you think of the cropping?

Hmm- I think I need to go back to Photoshop and re-edit- not sure why the colors look so different.

If you could bring up (or cut off? hard to describe...) the low end of the luminosity curve in levels you might be able to darken the background a bit and make the flower pop without cropping...

Love this hybrid though- thanks for sharing!

The problem was I didn't have the whole background covered with the black cloth- I don't like the way the color appears different in the two images. One was processed with levels and the other with curves in Photoshop CS3. I'll play with the luminosity, and next time adjust the background more carefully.
Here's the original image-

Oooh, looks wonderful in the original.

I found getting a big enough black backdrop difficult... it can be suprising how big it needs to be. I now have a big black-out blind which now has the problem of being to massive to handle easily... but it does the job for all my orchid shots.
