I am very interested in trying to grow this species. I was wondering if anyone knows a lot on how to grow this species. Also, does anyone know of a good source to get them from?

I have grow paph and dtps as well as cymbidium. I don't grow with lighting.

It's a little tricker than other Phrags (or at least has that reputation), mostly because it grows a bit differently from other Phrags.

It likes calcium in the mix (lime, oyster shells), and a pH around 7.5-8. It likes to stay moist to wet, but in my experience will rot in sphagnum moss. A lot of people have success growing it in LECA (in s/h), and in diatomite. It would probably also do okay in a bark mix (just remember to add lime to the mix). Other than that, it grows the same as any other Phrag.

orchidweb carries some kovachii and kovachii hybrids readily available. they arent cheap.

I grow mine in a clay saucer with wet feet all the time inside a tank/waterfall..growing like a weed.

Use Pure water, Rainwater or AC condensate only.
Very little Fertilizer once a month and some superthrive in the water when I change it out each week..Gets fresh water every week..water quality is the key to phrags Im thinking so far...

I had put a piece of wood in my tank for aesthetics then to my horror I noticed the wood was leaching something salty and white..AHH salts!!! been flushin the phrags all week now...they are picky and react fast to bad water..They also like bright indirect light..Small baby phrags need less light cus they burn easy and will wilt if you dont keep then WET all the time....Im a noob and learning..

dont spray fungus or bactericide on the leaves..just put some in the water is what I do...The leaves dont like that stuff on them and they will turn yellow and get spotty but you have to keep the water clean and clear..did I say clean water enough?

I almost got one until I realized they like cool weather and high altitudes. (I live in zone 10b at sea level)

From what I hear, the best way to grow them is in a tank.

They should grow down to 50F but don't let them get much above 86F. They should grow ok in CHC as well. But pretty much what everyone says above is good.
