I make my own mixes, and this one is in bark, lava rock, some perlite, and charcoal I believe.

She also uses some secret ingrediant found only in the mountains of Western Maine.
She won't even tell me.........I think it is dried bananas peels, sun dried at the base of Mount Katahdin.

Oh Al, you are soooooo far off it isn't funny! You know that book "The Little Engine That Could?" Well, I use the coal from that little engine, and bury it at the base of the east side of Mount Washington (you were close there, but not thinking big enough), then I do the "Little Indian In The Cupboard" dance and wait for the full moon, then dig it up and throw it in very sparingly in clay pots that have been drenched in holy water.
That's it! I think most everyone here does the same thing, right folks?

Me too, I hope it's a good long time, but it looks too frail to last long, I bet. I will keep you posted.

Update on my besseae
Hi all!
I just wanted to say that I had three blooms from that one stem. The first bloom came 9.15.09, then the second came 10.29.09 and now the last one bloomed 12.26.09. Yes, they all look alike, but I think the second and last blooms were a tad smaller than the first. So far, the first two have lasted close to a full month. I am so impressed with this phrag. I was told it would be hard to grow and bloom, but it's not and well worth growing!! Now you watch, it probably won't bloom again for me for years.....
