Thanks, WhiteRabbit, help and Cody. In one location (we know of a couple), there are huge clumps of these Lady's Slippers and hundreds of plants.

They are amazing, and in the same area the ground is carpeted with Amerorchis rotundifolia - you can't walk without stepping on them - and with Cyp. parviflorum, the yellow Lady's Slipper, which also grows there by the thousands. It is an amazing place that we try to visit every year, though it's about a seven hour dirve.
