Default New Phrag species

Browsing thru the forum I notice that none of the members have commented on the new Phrag species described and pictured in the March "Orchids".
Phrag manzurii, which looks like a green besseae with a pink pouch. Did this one slip by or is it a non event ?????

I didn't know. I don't subscribe to Orchids. It sounds pretty.

I heard about a little while back on a slipper forum and saw a photo of it there. It's really beautiful.

This was viewed with interest among those that closely follow phragmipediums. It is a lovely species that should be quite valuable in hybridizing.

For those that missed it in Orchids, it is a symptom of the times that people are disengaged regarding the AOS even in the face of such publication. Many other articles have recently addressed issues that are affecting the orchid world these days, and in detail.

The article regarding Phrag manzurii describes the species and discusses the discovery.

This is similar in size to Phrag schlimii and fischeri. Pretty compact for Phragmipediums.

Oh be still my heart! Compact!! I'm sure I will have to wait a long time before it is 1) available and 2) affordable, but I must have one. Thanks for the info Phantasm.
