Recommendations for compact pink Phrag

I can second Kyle's recommendation for Olaf Gruss. Its a really pretty flower, and all that I have seen are relatively compact plants. Colour seems to be quite variable within the grex, but the nicest ones are really scrumptious. Here's one that I particularly liked:


My pearcii is a very small plant for a Phrag - about the size of an Amami Island Neo. I just hope one day I will get to see it flower!!!

Shannan, Olaf Gruss is really beautiful. I'll have to see pearcii in the flesh. Thanks for putting things in "neo" terms for me, LOL. Guess you "know" me now.

I like your avatar! Sedenii does look a lot like Memoria Estelle Getty. Actually, I have seen some plants of Jason Fischer (the phrag) from Jason Fischer (the dude). They might start out compact but some of the mature plants I've seen can get to be a pretty good size. If I had a bay window I don't think I'd worry so much. But with my regular window, not sure if I could keep that thing happy as far as light. I'll have to see Sedenii the next time I'm at the greenhouse.

that sounds very interesting.. I have started with two Phrags (Jason Fischer and wallisii) and had pearcei in my wish list... but was a bit araid of the size... do you have a picture of the whole plant?
Shannan, the size of Amami sounds very atractive, but somehow also very small... is it a mature plant?

Actually, that's quite small for a Phrag. Even I could manage something this size!

Tracy, what did you end up going with? I bought a 5 growth Phrag La Vivace Epicure Phyllis D. Turner (pearcei x klotzscheanum) from Orchids Limited, the other day. They definitely are compact and have really neat flowers. Mine isn't in bloom, but Jerry said it should be within 2 or 3 months and blooms for about 6 months at a time.

I also just won a Phrag. Predator (richteri x warscewiczianum) and a Phrag Paul Eugene Conroy (longifolium x walisii...not going to be a small plant, by any means) on ebay, last night. I trust the vendor a lot, so I'm excited to see how that shakes out!!!

From what Jason Fischer said, the Phrag La Vivace etc. will grow really quickly, maybe when it's sent out a few more growths I can break off a bit for ya

Yay!! Thanks! Sounds like your place is going to turn into Slipper City pretty soon. My first choice was Azuko Fischer but at that time, Jason said they were trying to remake that one and it was still in flask. I ended up with a Barbara Leeann seedling and a Waunakee Sunset seedling. I'm planning on making it to the next OSM meeting this month. If you will be there, I can introduce you to Ross and Julie. They are slipper fans and grow around 1000 paphs in there home (they have no greenhouse). Did you just go to OL yesterday? Did Jason dress up as Captain Jack Sparrow?

Pictures? I am debating if I should get Phrag. Waunakee Sunset. Is it really small?

Calurum is a lovely pink. However, since the parents are Sedenii and Longifolium, it could get large. So far so good. Carol
