Default Phag Sedenii

Hy all
Today i've purchased this Phrag, labeled like Schroederae, but it seems to me to be a Sedenii, or a Calurum (how recognize this two, one from the other???)

What do you think about?

However, everything it is, I love it sooo much

Phrag Schroederae is a caudatum cross, and should have much longer petals and a bigger flower as well. The Calurum is a longifolium cross and I am sure that is what yours is.

The difference between a Calurum and a Sedenii is an extra longifolium parent, and some Sedenii's will also have the distinctive pink center of the schlimii parent making them at times hard to tell apart, other than the growth habits of the plants themselves.

Here's my Sedenii.

The petals on yours look pinker than mine.

Yours is very pretty. I like the pink petals and the faint striping on the dorsal.

Thanks to all and thanks for sharing your photos to match...

Sedenii and Calurum are very similar, but in effect petals on mine seem to be different from Sedenii's... So i think Gands is right, i'm going to change the label

Thanks again, i'm glad that you like it

Claudia, where did you buy this plant from? I think it would be also advisable to contactthe nursery, send them the picture, and ask for their opinion. Hybrids can have a great variation between seedlings and everytime you make the cross. therefore, you can have plants which are quite different from each other (sometimes to expremes like in Phalaenopsis complex hybrids!). You can have nice examples of hybrids variations in these links:
Phragmipedium Primary Hybrid Photos
Phragmipedium Complex Hybrid Photo Gallery

In the Case of Phrag. Calurum and Phrag. Sedenii, where they actually share the same genes pool, you can have very similar individuals between both crosses.

Phrag. Schroederae tends to have longer petals, as 'gands' said. That's the Phrag. caudatum influence.

Funny thing regarding Phrag. Schroederae (Phrag. caudatum X Phrag. Sedenii)... It has been registered as Phrag. Schroderae at the RHS site It should actually be Schroederae, as it comes from the german family name Schröder (Schroeder)

Hi Ramon

I bought this plant just yesterday in a show, from an Italian vendor, and just him told me that was a Schroederae....
