Very happy with this one. From an Orchid Inn cross (besseae 'OZ Selected' x kovachii 'Full Moon'). NS only 11.1 but it's a first bloom seedling on a medium-sized growth. Only shape defect I see is the imperfect lower petal margin. Flash always makes the color a tad darker but it is a saturated coral-red. I have seen a few other pics of this exact cross that look similar. The petals are quite thick, so I have to wonder if perhaps the besseae was 4N. Going to save the pollen but not optimistic in case this is a triploid...

It's amazing! I say go for it with the cross! Selfing it may not work but if you cross it with a diploid you'll get low fertility but there will be some tetraploids in there!

I have the pollen earmarked for a very large-flowered dalessandroi i bloomed last year...if it's 4N it oughta be fertile, if it's 3N then maybe I'll get lucky and get some viable gametes
