First of three seedlings to bloom in 2" pot. This is 'Acker's Flamenco Dancer' x 'Firefly'. The camera doesn't do justice to the insanely intense tangerine orange.

Due to space constraints, I might end up parting with the others....

What rock have I been under! I havent heard of this species!? Did bessiae get split?

Put on sunglasses! Spectacular color. These stay fairly small... Maybe try to make room for its siblings too, especially if they turn out to be that good!

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from, but my space is EXTREMELY limited, so I really only need one.

Now, as the 4 rothschildianums bloom, I'll have to pick one of those, too.

There is some debate still that it is a variety of besseae, but as the shape of the staminode is diagnostic in slippers, it would seem to be separate.

Dalessandroi has a more "diamond" shaped staminode, while that of besseae is more triangular. However, when you consider the overlap in their known territories, there are probably a wide array of natural hybrids with multiple contributions from one side or another.

love it! you don't see this species (variety) around as much, then again besseae isn't super common either. let us know if you are parting with others!

Absolutely stunning. This species and besseae never cease to amaze me with the brilliance in hues (the yellows, too)!

Another sibling opened. I like the color better, including that of the staminode, but the flower is a bit smaller.

Roberta suggested that I might want to keep them all, and I'm afraid she might be right!
