I think salts are an issue. Water needs to be RO and you want to repot once a year. It is unsightly, however, if new leaves look fine I would not worry too much. After all, we grow these for the flowers, the leaves are an end to the means. You should see catesetum orchid leaves, lucky for us, they fall off each fall winter season. They usually get ugly. They sell cheap RO units that can mount off your faucet. People who have reef tanks use one that makes pure water which you do not want to use with plants, pure water kills plants. Best bet RO.
