Helen,
The status on
Phrag. kaieteurum is somewhat debated. I personally regard
Phrag. kaieteurum as a separate species from both
Phrag. lindleyanum (which it has been lumped with) and
Phrag. sargentianum, due to some morphological features in the vegetation, inflorescence, and flowers.
The vegetation size difference between
Phrag. kaieteurum and
Phrag. lindleyanum is the most apparent difference.
Phrag. kaieteurum is a smaller species found in Suriname and Guyana.
Phrag. lindleyanum has an overlapping distribution, but also found in eastern Venezuela and northern Brazil. There is not enough information about the
Phrag. kaieteurum populations, which may be one of the supporting reasons (besides an overlapped distribution) for lumping it with
Phrag. lindleyanum. The inflorescence in
Phrag. kaieteurum also does not branch, and the flowers are quite smaller.
Anyways, with the above said (
), here's the hybrid of
Phrag. lindleyanum x
Phrag. caricinum (
Phragmipedium Yu-Fu Liu)...

Here's a picture of a true
Phrag. kaieteurum, which demonstrates the smaller plant and flowers... so substitute the
Phrag. lindleyanum with my plant
Phragmipedium kaieteurum
