Default Lubbers

In Florida we have a grasshopper normally refered to as a 'Lubber' by the locals. The thing is 2 to 3 inches long and thinks cymbidiums are delicious. It doesnt kill the plant but the damage is unsightly. They are slow moving so the only control I know is to look for them - pull their heads off and put them in a bottle of kerosene. If you stomp on them the eggs hatch anyway.
Does anyone know another way to kill the things? A shotgun is not an option!

Orchids3 Grasshoppers are a tasty delicacy here in Africa and a good source of protein . They are usually roasted over the open flames and sprinkled with salt and pepper!!
Enjoy

Will try sticky traps but someone around here says that doesnt work. Insecticides I have tried dont slow them down. Fairly easy to catch but I think one would gain weight if more than one or two were eaten in a day.
