Hello.

I just purchased my first cymbidium--it's not flowering right now.

I have a couple of questions:

I live in Miami and it's pretty warm out right now. Does the plant need to be outdoors so that it gets a lot of light? How much light does it actually need? And how often does it require watering? Can it be grown indoors?

I have a front porch which gets pretty sunny during the day.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

I really want to learn to grow these because I think they look beautiful.

Cymbidiums should get enough light so the leaves are a slightly yellow/green color. Usually not direct mid-day sun, especially in Florida. With your hot weather and depending how much rainfall you get during your summer rainy seasons, they should get "almost" dry but not like catts. The trick is in the fall, they need a 10 to 15 deg temp difference day/nith to induce flowering...something that may pose a problem...but even in Florida it can get cool in December and January...
