It is mostly a size related issue that these may not be wildly popular. Although, I agree that it may become a little more mainstream with time if they bloom at a small size.

There is also no need for this hybrid really. It is somewhat of a novelty. A lot of Cymbidium species and hybrids grow just fine in places throughout much of the US where it doesn't snow. For example, here in Southern California in places that do not snow, they grow really well.
