Here's a couple pics of my cymbidium finlaysonianumin. This is the first time this one has bloomed for me, it is growing in a 20 inch basket with charcoal and sphagnum moss. It gets medium lighting, only gets full sun for about an hour at midday.

Really nice! I also like the community pot with cymbidium, begonias and ferns.

Although this is beautifully presented with the ferns, etc, in short time the fern roots will strangle the Cym roots in the pot. This happened to me in a dayanum and almost killed the dayanum before I understood the problem, pretty as it was. If these plants were all growing toether on a large log where the roots could wander around, it might be OK.

Secondly, finlaysonianum and the other coriacious leaved (thick and fleshy) species in the group, want very bright light and warm cattleya type temperatures. They will do best grown under those conditions hung high in a warm greenhouse. If you do not have that option, find the warmest, sunniest place in your growing area where you can give them at least a close approximation to what they want, and with no danger of frost or better yet, nothing below 45F.

Wow, that's a long inflorescence.
