Default Flower spike?

I'm new to oriental cymbidiums. Is this a flower spike? This is Cym ensifolium Jiao He 嬌鶴 (pink crane).

I have little experience with the Asian Cyms myself - but from my experience with other Cyms, I'd say it looks like new growth - but, maybe I'm wrong

If you gently squeeze it, a spike usually feels hollow.

Thanks No-Pro-Mwa and Whiterabbit. I'm afraid to squeeze it in case I break it off. I think it's hollow. Will just have to wait and see. It's Autumn in Sydney so if it's a flower it'll be very late in the season.

This is a new growth emerging. Maybe next year for a bloom.
