Everglades Orchids cyms - How heat tolerant?
Do Cymbidiums bred from Everglades Orchids ancestry regularly tolerate days in the 90s? Higher? All summer, or just every now and then? Do they need cool nights and/or super high humidity to tolerate higher temperatures?

I don't know but you could ask Carter & Holmes. They have a sale on Cymbidiums right now:
Buy five or more Bare-Root Cymbidium Seedlings for $6.95 each. Here is the flyer with pictures. I don't grow them myself, I wish I had the room.
Bare Root Cymbidiums; Customer Favorites In Larger Sizes; & New Divisions! - Carter and Holmes Orchids - 9/11/15

Dry Place, I have a few, and we've been in the mid- to upper 90s all summer. I give them about 50% shade, keep the RH up, and use a very open mix so they can be watered often.

The warmth tolerant Cyms are bred to bloom without a drop in night temperatures. Almost all Cyms can tolerate temps of 90F - 100F for several days at a time but need the lower temps at night for bloom set and best performance. Keeping the humidity up when the temps are up is important too, for all orchids.
Another good source of heat and warmth tolerant Cyms is The Orchid People in Hawaii. They have been doing some excellent work with color and extended range of season blooming for this type of Cym. You can find them online.

Thanks. I've now realized "heat-tolerant" refers primarily to forming flower spikes. My concern is whether they can tolerate 105-110+ during the day for several months, with nights in the mid to upper 80s, with or without humidity. In other words, at what temperatures do they just give up and die, even in shade and with adequate humidity.
I have no problem giving them cool and sunny winters.
I ordered a few from Carter & Holmes, who have heat-tolerant bare-root Cymbidium seedlings on sale right now. The worst of our heat is over for this year and it will stay in the range 95-105 for another 6 weeks or so. They will have a chance to get well-established before the next return of Hades.
