Default What Cymbidium is this?

http://www.orchidboard.com/community...500&ppuser=294
The cymbidium in the picture is labeled "Cym lowianum var iansonii" but I dont think so. What is it? Could it be a
sinense?
I dont know why I typed sinense - I really intended to type in insigne. Is this possible?

Your plant is definitely NOT sinense.
Both lowianum and iansonii are species. Your flower has attributes of each of these species.
My guess is that the label is wrong and the plant is actually Cymbidium Lotta, an old hybrid (1922) made with iansonii x lowianum.

Thanks for giving it a shot - best (and only) answer so far. There are 9 flowers measuring 11 cm on a tall arching spike does that fit your knowledge of Cym Lotta?
Does the rose color fit the Lotta description? Thanks for your help with this.

you can find more info about your plant at this website. I personally have never seen Lotta but a mature lowianum plant has the potential of bearing 12 to 40 flowers (average ns 10 cm) on a tall inflorescence. Stephen Early website goes into greater detail, including photos of Cym. lowianum var. iansonii. Perhaps an e-mail to him would be helpful

Time has passed and as is often the case when plants are mislabled we may never know with a certainty. I cannot in all honesty label this plants with anything but a BTB(Believe to be) Cym. Lustrous. I do not sell plants or really do hybridizing but like to know what I have.
