rotten pb?

this year, for the first time, I bought a cym. (on sale )
but it has a brown pb.

What shoud I do? How serious is this situation?

If the bulb is soft, it should be removed immediately so the infection doesn't spread.

It isn't soft. Is it an infection? Do I have to remove it anyway?

I am somewhat new to Cymbidiums, but I would remove those browning leaves & if the pseudobulb is turning brown remove it. It appears to have many healthy growths, better to remove one bad one & save the plant.

You're right..If it's an infection it could infect the other pseudobulbs. Do you have any suggestions about how to remove it?

See if you can get a look beneath the bract foliage there - it may be that the pbulb underneath is ok

this is (or, better, was) the ps. Black. not soft but it was completly rotten. this is how I did the cut. Is it good? There is also a kind of new growth down there. it departs from the rotten pb.

This is often a common problem on new growths where water has been allowed to stand in the leaf bracts. Be sure on your cut that any water can drain off and not be caught in a "saucer". Then dust with cinnamon and let it dry. Your plant should be OK and this specific rot should not spread.

I was wondering if the cut that I did is ok. I couldn't cut the entire pseudobulb, and I didn't check if the roots under the pb are ok.
