Hi Gloria,
Could you give us the names of your warm growing Cyms and perhaps pictures? I'm very interested in getting a couple to see if they like me!
Thanks,
Al

I think anyone would enjoy growing these, They smell wonderful and I find them to be fussless. (is that a word?)

The biggest problem you'll have, is picking out 1 or 2 or 3 .... 4, 5, or 6 , well you get the picture
Ooo! Sounds good! Now if I can just figure out how to keep houseplants happy... It's funny, I can make an orchid happy, but I tend to have a bad track record with houseplants!
For a ballpark temperature, what would you recommend on your warm growers Gloria?

Bonjour Al & Carol

It doesn't matter if they don't like you - just kick them out

Naw, you'd be surprised how well they could do. Just keep them under good lighting, don't allow to dry out, these should be kept damp, not wet. FEED these puppies. The warm growers can bloom a few times a year, which I think makes them interesting and fun to grow.

My warm growers can take to the heat very well, they love it and will grow faster with the heat & high humidity we have here - it's like a sauna during the summer time here.
(IMO) they are more then just tolerant of high heats.

They can be slowly introduced to the warm sunlight - although I don't go past 12 o'clock.
My warm gorwers stand from 2 feet to almost 3 feet - so yes they are smaller compared to many of the coolish growers, but still fair sized orchids to keep.
I think Pheli has some of the even smaller types

Do a forum search for "Cymbidium Ensifoliums" or "warm growing cymbidiums"
You should be able to draw up a warm growing list from that. Lemmie know if you don't find that eh?!

Al, I'm not good with photos, but I do think I have one or 2 in my gallery.
About the tempts - Carol, mine can range from 65 to upper 80's.

Regards,

Thanks Gloria,
Giving they a lot of thought, seems they might like more heat than I can supply (no green house) and more sun than I can give them in the winter season (grow on "window sills") but will continue to research.
Off to your Gallery now,
Al

Gloria, didn't seem to find any Cym's in your gallery but was very pleased and surprised to find you have the same 'yellow noid' Phal as I do. Check it out in my gallery and start a new thread in the Phal forum if you think it might be the same. Mine came labeled but I knew it was wrong when I bought it.
