New spike turning yellow

hi everyone , its autumn in here and cymbidium just started to produce new spike. I hv one cymbidium that has around 5 new spikes, just noticed that two spikes at the bottom of them are turning yellow and also an other small spike thats now developing is just yellow; while the other 2 are fully green can anyone help me plz

Tell us more details like:
1) watering frequency
2) where is it positioned, what light is it getting NSWE, indoors/outdoors?
3)post a photo of entire plant
4)how long have you been caring for this cym
5)describe the media you used for it
6)prevailing temps in your growing area

I suspect bad roots from any number of different causes thus failing to give each separate spike-bearing bulb enough strength to sustain the spike.

Its normal for cymbidium. Some time, the plant will abort some smaller spike that come out later and focus more energy into the ones that are already developing. If the latter spiking make it through without blasting, they usually don't have as much flower count as the one that pike first.

But you have to keep the temparature constant, during spiking. No drastic change or they tent blast the spike.

Sorry to disagree with you wonderlen3000, but this is definitely NOT normal in a healthy plant. It can be compared to climbing a steep hill on a bicycle if you bonk 1/2 way up which means your body did not have enough nutrients/fuel to sustain the muscles. In the case of an orchid, the plant is simply not strong enough to hold the latter forming spikes as the first two appear to be green and healthy.

Hi again, hp everyone is gd. I got this cymbidium from my aunt few weeks ago she already repotted it last year using orchid soil they come in bags, she told me that the plant was outside all this summer, Im watering it once per week and I added to it a slow fertilizer and now im going to also use a algae fertilizer every 14 days. Its outside now getting direct sunlight everyday but some of the leaf and bulbs are yellow green color. These are some fotos of the green spikes vs yellow spikes

My earlier statement still stands. If it had been recently repotted, the roots had not yet developed to bring sufficient nutrients to the plant bulbs. Now that new roots are developing from the new growths, they will support the plant and you should be OK.
