Default Cymbidium Little Black Sambo "Black Magic"

So I love my Cym. Little Black Sambo "Black magic" It is currently shooting 2 new growths out right now and it has happy sap/juice (college kid finals brain I can't remember anything).

Anyways, I am absolutely in love with this plant and its willingness to survive after almost freezing to death in our post office in December for a week; during a really bad freeze. It pushed on and has since become one of my favorites who I am impatiently waiting for it to be big enough to hopefully bloom!

So my biggest question is are there any other warm growing cymbidiums(I do understand that this is a hybrid) like this one that I could possibly get my hands on? Or am I out of luck?

I haven't tried cyms because I don't have the indoor space for them but hope you find some!

It's great to hear it is growing for you Kindra, the pseudobulb you sent me last year is pushing new growth too! I thought you have already few warm growing Cymbidiums? Warm tolerant I know: Summer Love, Golden elf, Enzan forest, Sunshine falls "butterball", Rosery cloud. Hope this helps:-)

Only issue with carter and holmes I have found you pay a lot but dont get a lot...and their shipping is ridiculous.

@ least with SVO I know that the shipping is BEYOND worth the price.

No thank you really, Sorry. I have ordered from them before and I pay 25 for a plant that is 3 years from blooming and then pay 18.50 for shipping. I did that 2 x's and not really wanting to do that again.

Kindra, over the years I've found C&H's prices pretty competitive and always felt like I got a good deal; if you paid $25 for something that was 3 years from blooming then I doubt you'd have gotten a better deal on that elsewhere. They also offer a lot of things under $20, always healthy and well-grown for the money in my experience.

Plus, C&H is one of the few nurseries out there that virus-test their stock and stands behind it in this regard, not too many places doing that these days.

Their shipping may be high for ordering just one plant, but that's the case with almost any nursery, with per-plant shipping costs going down as you get more at one time. When you don't pay shipping costs as an explicit 'shipping charge,' you're still paying them in the price of plants, there's no 'free lunch' from any nursery that plans to stay in business long-term.

Do some nurseries give you better value for your money than others? Undoubtedly, but let's please not go badmouthing an excellent one based on vague impressions from a couple of transactions. If you don't like C&H, don't shop there, but when you post 'critiques' amounting to little more than buyer's remorse on a public forum, you're not really doing anyone any favors.

Im not bad mouthing or being rude. They do have beautiful plants. I am not going to lie but for the prices i pay I would rather try to find somewhere else w better shipping and plant sizes. But I am also allowed to express myself about things I have done or seen in the past.

At leafmite thanks. So far my Black Magic is not overly large thus far. So I hope I can find some. I went and checked today and my alifolium had basically given up the ghost. Sad to see that because I liked its stripes. If I find some that do not grow overly large I will let you know.
