They should be extremely easy to grow. I've had these for maybe somewhere on the order of 7 - 9 years. It grows like a weed, and blooms quite regularly for me.

I grow this plant in bright indirect light, as bright as for Cattleyas or certain bright light Vandas.

It is an intermediate to warm growing plant (55 F - 95 F).

It appreciates some moderate humidity (60% - 80%).

It doesn't grow in acidic conditions. Notice that one of the places where the plant comes from is Thailand…

Notice also that it grows real well in Florida…

What do these two places have in common?

You guessed it - limestone. The soil is more neutral or alkaline in pH, it is not acidic.

Quartz based sands tend to lean more towards being acidic in pH.

Make sure the potting soil drains very well.

The ideal potting mix is a mixture of limestone and some coarse top soil that drains freely.

This orchid can grow only from one bulb without leaves. That's how I got mine, and over time, it became a beast.

It started off in a 2" pot, and now it resides in a 6" pot. In about 2 years, it will be ready for an 8" pot.

I was a bit hesitant to post this pic up right away because this was originally Tommy's thread.

To give a bit of background. The leaves on this plant do die back regularly. It is part of their natural cycle. Just because the plant drops its leaves doesn't mean it died. I do have some pseudobulbs that are messed up looking because there were periods of time where I was struggling to keep up with the watering. I don't have this problem anymore because I'm starting to get my health back in order. This is the same plant that I've posted blooming pics of a couple years ago or so. It finished blooming for me this winter.

Thanks Philip for all the info, and never hesitate to post, this is how we all learn and improve! I will add sole dolomite powder to mine now, since it is the same like limestone powder if not mistaken. And yes, I hot it as a bare pseudobulb, than the spike started to grow, after the spike grew the leaves started!
