It is a plant endemic to Madagascar, where it germinates only on Platycerium madagascariense, a staghorn tree fern. So it is an epiphyte on an epiphyte.
Happily it is not difficult in seed propagation, and I bought mine as a strong seedling from Elsner. Elsner runs an online shop, she ships her plants within the EU and this plant is still available for 15,95 Euro.
