Buds blasted on recently purchased cym

Hi, All - While most of the buds have opened on a cym, several blasted. This is my first cymbidium and would like to get ahead of a potential problem. Any assistance gratefully appreciated. The plant is near a SE window and I live in the NE US so the window is not getting strong sunlight yet. (We are getting more snow tonight!) Should I move the plant? Is it temperature? Could you please tell me the right balance of food that I should feed and how often. All the other buds have opened but I am so fearful of losing yet another orchid due to my misdirected "care."
