Cymbidium sinense
It blooms regularly in early spring as our spring is coming.
The blooms are very perfumed.

pheli, that is beautiful. I just bought one from Tin Shen gardens. I recently saw an alba version where the flowers are a light green. Combined with the variegated foliage it was spectacular and still with that wonderful fragrance. I've gotten quite fond of the Chinese Cyms. My ensifolium has its second spike coming now

Did you get this same brown flowered one, Carrie?
I wanted to buy a few, but I was all over at the paph vendor and when I went back on the last day of the show, Tenshin Garden stocks were mostly sold out. lol
I was lucky to pick two cymbidiums along with other orchids from him.
Now chunlan is in bloom now, but my sinense which has beautiful leaves, I think is in trouble. The lower leaves are turning brown.
Well, I hope to catch him on the future show and buy some more if my sinense dies.

Indeed. I got the brown flowered one. The cultivar is 'Rue Hua'. It is brown with green "stripes". The foliage is nicely variegated. I have 2 new pbulbs starting. So I am happy .
However a second ensifolium to got in October or so, is doing nothing. It look healthy, so I have hope.

My sinense is Rue Hung and highly variegated. It came with one new shoot starting, but is not doing anything other than all the base leaves (the shortest ones on all the pbs) are turning brown all of sudden. hmmm

Rue Hung is a version which was collected in eastern Taiwan in 1930.
It is well known for the variegated foliage.

Cymbidium sinense fma. alba
One of my favorite clone of this species. The clone has larger blooms than other ones.
