Cymbidium No I.D. (pale blush) in bloom
One of my oldest Cyms - so I've had it 8-9 years, I guess ... I don't even remember where I got it - hardware or box store, for sure!
This is always the first of my Cyms to bloom every year - usually starting to bloom in January or early February (started right at the beginning of the year this year). Blooms reliably, but not as well as I would like - definite improvement this year - I keep adjusting fertilizer - this year it got less nutricote, but I added water soluble fertilizer regularly. I did lose one nice spike in my battle with the ants on this one
Potted in a 3 gallon plastic nursery pot, medium and fine fir bark mix. This is the largest of three divisions made from the plant two years ago ...
Very light, pleasant fragrance.
Thanks for looking

This is gorgeous! I think my dad has a similar one and I'm hoping it is one of the few that is sending up a spike right now. The white/soft pink cymbidiums are my favorite closely followed by the pale green. I plan on going through and repotting all the cymbidiums this year after a good seven or eight years of neglect (he doesn't have time for them and I just recently got back into orchids).

It's lovely.
What water soluble fertilizer did you use this time?
How much and how frequently?

Thanks Ron
True, almost all my Cyms are noids, bought because they were pretty and inexpensive - or were divisions given to me.

Thank you
I hope your spiking Cym is what you hope for! Tho, I don't think I've ever seen any Cym that I didn't like!
Have fun with the repotting! It's the one thing I dislike about Cyms

Thank you, Maureen
I gave this two teaspoons of nutricote in spring, then most weeks approximately 1/4 tsp per gallon of Grow More urea free orchid fertilizer (20-10-20).
I may bump that up a little more (strength of fertilizer) this year, and see how it goes...
I must say that this Cym's immediate neighbor (another Cym noid) is really out-doing itself with last year's fertilizing regimen - always has been a good bloomer, but this year has 8 spikes! (2 gallon pot) - all with a lot of buds!

Thanks, I used the Grow More on mine until I switched to a slow release last spring. I can't see as I see much difference (or maybe a little less) so I'm going back to the Grow More.
