Thanks! I didn't like them at first. But they grew on me.
Their ease of culture makes them even better here.

Very purdy! I want a big soft pink one and a big bright yellow or orange one!

If you are only getting 4 of your Cyms to rebloom, you need to SERIOUSLY consider changing your cultural practices. Not only should Cyms. re-bloom every year, they should bloom better than they had the year before. Southern California is one of the best places in the US to grow Cyms. There are many orchid societies, Cymbidium branches of the CSA and several quality hybridizers in the area to help you answer questions on a hands on basis.

You think? Hmm...
I actually only got one Cymbidium to bloom. This one.
I've gotten four orchids total out of all my orchids.
I sort of figured they were taking a year to adjust.
Almost every plant I get just sits in my yard for a year doing nothing before they take off so it didn't strike me as odd.

They've been growing like mad men and are almost in need of a bigger pot less than a year later. So I figured all was well. But now I'm thinking I might need to check in their pots.

Another consideration is in my area cymbidiums don't normally start sending up spikes till about January. Which was another thing I was waiting for...
I've got allot to think about

Cym spikes actually begin to initiate within the pseudo bulbs in June to July of the summer before they bloom. Most emerging spikes can be seen as early as August and September on the early and mid season bloomers if you look carefully within the outer leaf bracts of the bulbs. Most people are not aware of the emerging spikes until they are up a couple of inches a month or two later. I suspect yours are the same. They are just not as obvious to you.

Yes, some plants will sulk the year after purchase, as they have been pushed by the commercial growers to produce quickly. That is why it is usually recommended that new plants be re-potted and put into fresh mixes after they have finished blooming.

That explains why the buds just sat there all fall.

Hmm... if they don't rebloom next year then I'll have to work on my culture for these plants. My neighbors bloom like clockwork

I get Cyms starting spikes sometimes as early as late July - August, then into September usually. Tho summer night temps may be cooler here, causing earlier spikes ...

Spring- summer make sure they get plenty of sun, water, and fertilizer.
