Should I repot a Cymbidium now?
I just bought my first Cymbidium and it was literally cracking open its plastic pot. It looks very healthy and has 3 large pseudobulbs with leaves and a little brown back bulb. It easily slipped out of the pot, so I could see it has a good root system, but it's all compacted into that little square.
What I did was just use scissors to cut open the corners of the plastic pot and put it in a slightly larger clay pot and just filled in around it.
I ordered a tall clay Cymbidium pot for it (spent way too much but it looks beautiful), and I'm wondering if I should replant it in that when I get the pot or is it a bad time. I've read elsewhere they should be repotted in the spring after they flower but this one shows no signs of flowering yet.
If I do repot, can just soak the roots in warm water to make them pliable to distribute them down the tall pot?
Thanks
