I repotted into a 1g cymbidium pot - yes, I know its overpotted, but its an experiment. Its root system can handle the larger pot ! Orchiata mix with long-strand sphagnum moss ( about 1/3 ). I realise I am going to have to be careful with watering now its in a larger pot.
It had 3 growths, now a 4th - possibly a spike ! Interestingly it looks like the leaf variagation has returned, I'm not sure why. It could be because its in a much sunnier position about a foot from a south-facing window.

My sinense, which I thought was dying with somes leaves browning and a new growth stopped growing any further, is now pushing two new shoots! yay!

I have no idea as to what flowers I am expecting though. Leaves are pretty, so I'm happy.

I should get myself this Shi Zhan Hong. Do you know if it's just this variety or is it sinense thing that flowering occur twice a year?

Oh, my, that is beautiful how the light green shoots come out of burdundy colored cover (whatever the proper name for that structure might be)!!!!

My ensofolium is spiking AGAIN! I suspect that the reddish shoot you see in your pictures is a spike. Mine come up looking that way. The growths show much more green.

NYC - it seems if you can get the culture for ensifolium right, you get rewarded with regular blooms.
Carrie - these are definitely leaves in green growing out the purply sheaths - hence my thoughts on variegation. There is a 4th "growth" which may be a spike...

so it's a spike ! You can ( hopefully ) see the difference between a leaf sheath and a spike.
