So Proud and Excited! My noid cymbidium has a Beautiful , Thick Healthy spike I didn't wreck!!
Last year, I had my very first noid cymb. produce a spike , but I 'trained' it upright. All the flowers Blasted!! Did I ever learn a valuable lesson.
I want to thank those that tried to help me....Cym Lady, etc, but I guess I had to kill the first spike for it to sink in Also , since then my first cymb. has had a well needed repot, and is now really flourishing
How exiting. And just what was that lessen learned? I am needing to learn about these orchids as I really am wanting one. I think I have it picked out even.
I have a pile of NOID plants and had a spike blast and I'm wondering how to prevent this too. I now have four spikes and one almost blooming that has already lost a couple buds. I'm afraid it's our ever changing California weather again. One day it's 80 and the next it sort of rains and then it's 80's again. They're so confused!

Thanks The lesson learned, was Leave it alone
All I did, was very gently supported the flower stalk.

I read, that these plants have to have a cooling period to initiate spikes . My three cymbs, were outside, from late spring, to late fall, the temps even went down to 4 c. When it got to freezing, I brought them into our very cool plant room. And then, watered as normal, and did'nt bug the plant
Hope you get some flowers ♥
I hope Cym Lady chimes in,she could explain a lot better
Looks good. I have a NOID in spike that looks similar to your buds. Also another with two shorter spikes. I do what you do for leaving them outside until nearly frost.
