help help may day! cymbidium in need-imageuploadedbytapatalk1378152367-166006-jpg. I pot my Cymbidiums in half bark and half potting soil mix, grow them in the sun, leave them out all winter unless it is going to go below freezing, They are potted in both large clay and large plastic pots. The roots don't like to dry out completely so they are usually moist. The cold and sun make them bloom like crazy, also the natural winter shorter day length. I am in one 7B.

Another good way to fertilize...use the fish bowl or aquarium water to water your orchids when you change the water and they will grow like crazy. I have polywogs of tree frogs (they lay eggs In the swimming pool) and they grow to maturity In a big pan next to the swimming pool. This water is also great.

What zone you are in makes a HUGE difference in cultural requirements. I am glad you noted that.

Heres the pictures. My larger one is currently enjoying heat/natural humidity outside. We got about an inch of rain today!

CYM ladye, thanks for a wonderful post which confirmed a lot. My Cymbidium has been a family member for over five years and is now huge.
