Cymbidium in rain...??? Female
Default Cymbidium in rain...???

Currently I have been keeping my cym out on the balcony. Weather has been nice & hasn't gotten too cold at night. Last night was the first time I left it out all night...

That being said, it is supposed to rain all day tomorrow.
Would it be best to bring it in tonight & leave it in all day?
Or will it not mind the rain??

Thanks in advance!

mine stay out in the rain - but if there are buds - especially larger buds, you may want to shelter them to prevent spotting

What is the lowest temp you would leave your standard and miniatures at WhiteRabbit?

My nans live out in the garden all year round in all weather in Melbourne where it rains a lot in winter and always have lots of flowers and are very healthy

All the buds are open already. Will it still be okay?

Personally, I'd bring them in if it was going to rain to keep the flowers around and enjoy them a bit longer. But that's just me.

If you are very worried about the flowers I'd bring it in.

Okay, thank you. I'll bring it in. Wasn't sure how much it'd effect the flowers. I'm used to regular flowering plants. Lol

Well, mine alway stay out. I shelter in spike Cyms when there's a chance of frost or freeze. I've read they should be fine down to upper 20's for short periods. Mine have probably gone to 28-29 for very short periods overnight. I do have a couple of noids that I guess might be "minis" (pbulbs smaller than my standards) - but only bloom seasonally (winter-spring), so, I'm not certain they are minis - get treated the same.

Interesting. Sorry to steal the thread. Just thinking that perhaps I should abuse mine a bit more than what I currently thought I should?! So what about the rain question? How do yours fair outside in the rain? Shorter bloom cycles?
