Default Flowers on my Cym

Really pleased that my yellow NoID cym is flowering again. Last year it flowered late in July so I was really pleased when it flowered again so soon. I think I got the conditions right for it last year and over the winter.

The first pic was actually just an in-situ shot taken yesterday in the greenhouse, although hubby did get out his new tripod to take it. The other shots were taken in the house earlier this month.

The whole plant shot shows the battered leaves from being outside last summer, but it has lots of new growth and seems healthy despite that. The summers flowers were a lot less pristine, due to having flowered outside rather than in the greenhouse. I don't think I ever posted them back then, so here are some pics of last summer's flowers, the first one showing the plant in-situ amongst weeds and other overgrown garden stuff

Gorgeous... I just love yellow on flowers and together with the shape of this Cym's flowers, it gets irresistible.

I understand why you did that. I don't think I could've done it though, since it would only make me want to go home and look at the real thing.

I've just realized there's not enough pictures of Cymbidiums on this forum...

Beautiful, beautiful Cym Strange that it bloomed so out of season last year.

I think my conditions in 2010 were not the best for it. It got no fertiliser and there were a couple of other problems. I thought that was meaning it wouldn't flower at all in 2011 but I corrected it's conditions and started fertilising over the summer last year in the hope of flowers this year. I was really surprised with the sikes developed late but I guess it's a sign, along with the flowers now, that I had got better conditions for it

Maybe our excessively wierd spring last year gave it the bloom induction period it needed?
