No. Eulophia quartiniana is adapted to a very long dry period in Africa. So keep the plant nearly dry until the spike is about 20 -30 cm long. If there is no spike, wait until new growth is 10-15 cm and 4 weeks old. Then start watering. In Africa heavy rainfalls set in at once, but I start watering a bit slowly. The root system also stores water, so the plant is not really in a need. Over the summer give a lot of water and fertilizer and gradually go to the dry side in october. The winter rest is dry. The plant needs a dramatic change in humidity.
Then flowers are almost sure and there is no bud drop.
