Thecopus secunda
I'm guessing that this genus belongs in the Cymbidium Alliance. I never heard of Thecopus until I found this plant blooming in my collection. This is the first bloom for the plant. It is growing in a 2-inch plastic pot. I will be transplanting the plant into a 3-inch pot after the flowers die out.

Definitely surprising, Glen, I always thought Aeridinae explicitly excluded sympodials (not that I've ever bothered looking that up).
Great plant, Mel! I love the long arcing column. Pretty spectacular flower-to-plant ratio, too. Any noticeable fragrance?

Solid candidate for a "You know you have too many plants when ..." contest.
Cute flowers! And if the plant stays about that size then there is a cymbidium-like mini I may look for one day. What conditions does it need?

Hi Nat. I gave it the sniff test today. There is no discernable fragrance.

Hi WhiteRabbit. The plant was growing in a shady area when I found it in bloom hidden among the other taller plants. I believe it can withstand more light. I will be growing it with my cattleyas and dendrobiums under 50% shade cloth after repotting. The plant label indicates that the plant came from H&R Nurseries.
