Pedi,
I'll give updates.
I separated them on july 30, (made a note on a calendar). At this time, after their shock, there is no drooping, change of color. They "seem" OK.
But ask your questions and others on here will help you. In the end, after weighing the comments, its up to you.
Good luck.

PJG,
I am glad we were able to give you help with your questions and to give you options for other directions to head for more information. It all goes to prove my initial statement, "If you ask 10 different people a question you will get 12 different answers!" Only you can determine which will work for you.
I agree with Pedi in keeping us posted on your new repots. Good luck and good growing.

Hi CL,
The cym's seem to be doing OK.
The hard part is not giving them a drink. It's been a little warm/muggie in SD, and I keep fighting myself wanting to water them.
Out of all the re-potting, there is one leaf that has turned yellow, but it was also a bent leaf to start with.
They seem to be standing strong, getting more natural light, while a little breeze is moving the leaves around.
Yesterday, I also picked out one of the smaller ones, measured it, dated it, and will check its growth.
Apart from that, all they have to do is grow.

PJG,
Many growers put the repots immediately back on the usual water schedule. Certainly the commercial growers do. I tend to let mine rest for about a week and then water lightly when I water/fertilize the rest of the collection. The primary reason to let them dry a bit in my opinion, is to harden off the cut root ends to avoid rot and be sure they do not "sit" in too much moisture. You do not want to loose too much moisture from the breathing leaf surface at the sacrifice of bulb strength.

Thanks CL.
I've been checking the medium (daily, more than once ), to see how its drying out, it's ok.
But if I notice a big difference, I'll add a little fertilized water.
Last Saturday was when I did the deed.

After a week, I gave all the cyms a fertilized drink.
I made sure (checked) each pot drained correctly, they did.
Apart from that, they are still growing. and I imagine any spike (if I get any) wouldn't be until next season.
Now its really up to them. I don't believe I've killed them.

PJG~~~~
Sounds like your cyms are doing great!!! Do you use a skewer or stick your finger in the pot to check for when it's time to water? KUWTGW.
I am taking care (read rehabbing) of a Cym that my husband's cousin had. She got scared when it started to drop its leaves. It has some new growths. Looks pretty good to me--a little scrawny, perhaps. I put it with the others in the sunniest part of the plant room, water when skewer is dry (it's 2-3/week) fertilize weakly weekly. I don't think it will bloom next season, but perhaps in the future.
I also have one in S/H--it looks good.
We'll see. They are cool plants.

Pedi,
I've been taking the heat, wind, mild sun they get, changing color from a dark (wet) to a light color into consideration, and yes using my finger as well.
But mostly, leaving them alone so they can do their thing.
Yeah, I gave them a week with moist medium, and now (after fertilized watering) I'll take care of the leafs (cleaning).

An update:
The cyms I cut (the roots) and repotted are still alive.
A couple (3) of them are growing spikes . I didn't think they would until next year. If ever again.
Q: One of the spikes at this time is about 12"+ tall. I looked at it this morning and wondered why it had water spots on it. I touched a spot and it was sticky.
Is that normal? With the spike just doing its thing.
Appreciate it, thanks.
PS: hope you all had a fun Christmas.
I edited from 12' to 12". 12' might have been a stretch.
