Have had dayanum for a couple of years in N. Florida and it hasnt bloomed or me. One expert grew it in Homestead and has commented that it didnt bloom for him. Another in Bangkok blooms it. I understand that Homestead isnt hot enought Bankok is - talk about a Hot growing cymbidium! California "really" ?

well blerg!
seems this may be an ornamental foliage plant for me then
I do know a member near Perth, Australia has bloomed his - not sure what the temps are like there ...

Rather than constant high temps and humidity, I think this species may want bright light but lower water in winter, at least that is what I give mine. Humidity in summer in my cool house averages between 55-70%, a little higher inn winter. I left them on the benches outside all year for a couple of years and, although I got good growth, no bloom. Once they went back into the cool house, no problem with bloom.

White Rabbit, there are some lovely variegated leaf forms, any one of which you could easily turn into an ornamental foliage plant. Keep your eyes out for them!
